Abstracts: Nowadays, Hanoi has a large and fertile hinterland, however, the proportion of which supplied water is just 66,7% leading to not take advantage of it to develop local agriculture. It is important to investigate the actual production status of the alluvial grounds and assess the capacity of surface water and groundwater resources, in order to propose solutions for rational exploitation of both water sources. In the next step, engineering solutions to explore water resource in the condition of the lower water level of rivers or exploiting underground water sources suitable to the sizes of irrigated areas and land-producing hinterland should be implemented. Applying water-saving irrigation technology, management model associated with appropriate production organization for hinterland in Hanoi
