Abstracts: Northwest region in Vietnam is a relatively large area with diversity topographic from highland, low mountainous terrain to towering mountains; annual precipitation rate is high (1400-2400mm), locates unequally corresponding in time and space. As a result, there are a variable intake and storing-water facilities to meet different civil demands like supplying self-flowing water from tanks, reservoirs,… in this area. Almost facilities were provided from government fund such as 134, 135 projects or aids of UNICEF,… However, these facilities have been not used effectively and unsustainable. According to the investigation of the situation and limitation of water facilities, this article suggests some approaches to improve the effectiveness of water facilities and apply appropriate technologies for the Northwest area.
